The foundation for this unique product is provided by the efforts of Beltronics, aimed at continuously improving high-frequency reception techniques. This pioneering role, in which Beltronics excels world-wide, is implemented in part by a team of highly expert and dedicated engineers.
In the first half of the nineties this team was the first and to date only group in the world to detect unerringly at a distance of several hundred metres the Swiss Multanova 6F (the infamous "cone radar" set up on a tripod and used in many European countries), which is renowned as being "undetectable".
The fact that the result at that time of these efforts, the
Vector Europa 966R
, is to this day still used as a reference, speaks for itself.
- In partnership with Target Automotive Beltronics has undertaken optimum adaptation of the TARGET EURO 330 in line with the requirements applicable in Europe.
- The Euro 330 excels in the "windscreen detectors" segment as a result of its superior reception sensitivity to Dutch and other radar frequencies used in Europe.
- The TARGET EURO 330 also unfailingly detects all speed controls performed using laser guns. The use of GSM de-sensing technology and of suppression filters specially developed for Europe make the TARGET EURO 330 not only a quiet but also an extremely reliable travelling companion.
The use of high-grade components and an IS 9002 certified production and inspection system guarantee the reliability and durability of this Beltronics /Target product.

Our Verdict
-
Each detector claims comprehensive cover against police methods of monitoring speed. We were unable to carry out a controlled test, but the various units were tried out over a period of several weeks. The Bel units and Valentine One gave ample warning on approach to a GATSO camera. The directional indicator on the Valentine was also a useful feature. The Snooper was less sensitive, but gave just enough warning to react. False alarms were not a problem on dual-carriageways or motorways, but could become tiresome in town.
The
Bel Euro 330
and
550
are developments of the 980 and 990 models which cleaned up in our previous test (issue 015). We've seen nothing to change our recommendation this time around. Both are designed specifically for use in the UK (and Europe in the case of the 550) and work extremely well.
The Euro 550
performed marginally better with GATSO, and its settings can be changed country by country. These features warrant the extra money over the
330
, but both are a good buy.
The
Valentine One
is an impressive looking unit with some good features. However, its US roots show through with the lack of Ku band detection, and a display angled towards the left of the cabin. The price also counts against it.
